Meet the Doctors

Mason M. Williams, M.D., F.A.C.S.*

williamsDr. Mason Williams is a native of Richmond and a third generation physician in this area. He trained in general surgery and otolaryngology at the University of Virginia. After practicing otolaryngology in Richmond for six years, he left private practice and moved with his family to Norfolk for his residency in plastic surgery at Eastern Virginia Medical School. 

Since 1986, he has practiced plastic surgery in Richmond, and is the founder of Richmond Plastic Surgeons. In addition to his private practice, he has been on the clinical faculty at VCU, actively involved in the teaching of plastic surgery residents. 

Dr. Williams has been on medical trips and missions to countries around the world, including China, the Philippines, Mexico, and Syria. In his spare time, Dr. Williams enjoys spending time with his wife and family, playing golf, and gardening.

Lewis T. Ladocsi, M.D., F.A.C.S.*

ladocsiDr. Lewis Ladocsi was born in Newark, New Jersey, and graduated with Honors in Anthropology from Duke University. He then received his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia and completed a residency in General Surgery at the Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey. He returned to MCV and completed a residency in Plastic Surgery, then went on to complete a fellowship in Cosmetic Surgery with Dr. James Carraway at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He joined Richmond Plastic Surgeons in 2000, and specializes in cosmetic surgery of the breast, face and body, as well as all aspects of reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Ladocsi has presented on various surgical topics at regional and national meetings around the country, and has written articles on both general and plastic surgery which have appeared in many national, peer-reviewed journals. During his career in Richmond, he has been recognized for patient care, leadership, and community service. Dr. Ladocsi is board certified in plastic surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, as well as the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He currently serves as the president of the Virginia Society of Plastic Surgeons. He lives with his wife and three children in Midlothian, and his interests include photography and Civil War history.

Isaac L. Wornom, III, M.D., F.A.C.S.*

Dr._Wornom_photoDr. Isaac L. Wornom is trained in plastic surgery and general surgery and has been a plastic surgeon in Richmond for 20 years. Prior to coming here, he completed a fellowship in craniofacial surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, which is consistently ranked as the top pediatric hospital in the nation.

He is board certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is the past-president of the American Cleft Palate – Craniofacial Association and is also the past-president of the Richmond Academy of Medicine and the Virginia Society of Plastic Surgeons. His practice is focused on cosmetic surgery of the face, breast, and body, reconstructive breast surgery, and the treatment of skin cancer.

In addition, he has been one of the primary plastic surgeons for children in Richmond since his arrival here in 1989. He has extensive experience in treatment of cleft lip and palate, congenital moles, and vascular malformations in children. Like all of the surgeons at Richmond Plastic Surgeons, he prides himself on giving individualized, personal care.

Darrin M. Hubert, M.D, F.A.C.S.*

Dr._Hubert_PhotoDr. Darrin Hubert  grew up along the shores of Lake Erie in northwestern Pennsylvania and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Rochester (New York) with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, where he was also an academic All-American basketball player. He received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania, during which period he completed an additional one-year research fellowship with a grant from the Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation.

Dr. Hubert then undertook his six year residency training in plastic surgery at one of the nation’s finest programs, also at the University of Pennsylvania. During this period, which included extensive experience at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia as well as the university hospital and its affiliates, Dr. Hubert was able to learn state-of-the-art techniques from some of the most distinguished plastic surgeons in the field. He has presented his research at both the regional and national level and has published on these topics.

Board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Hubert joined Richmond Plastic Surgeons in 2009, after two years of private practice in suburban Philadelphia. His clinical interests include cosmetic surgery, breast surgery, and all aspects of reconstructive plastic surgery including reconstructive microsurgery. Furthermore he is certified to perform hyperbaric and undersea medicine. Outside of plastic surgery, Dr. Hubert enjoys reading and basketball. He lives with his wife and three children in Hanover County.

Sharline Z. Aboutanos, M.D.

Sharline Z. Aboutanos, M.D.Dr. Sharline Zacur Aboutanos is a native of Miami, Florida, and she graduated with Honors in Biology from the University of Miami. She received her medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine and graduated with Research Distinction.

Dr. Aboutanos completed her residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at VCU Health Systems/MCV Hospitals. Her training included head and neck surgery, hand and upper extremity surgery, microvascular surgery, breast reconstruction, burn reconstruction, and cosmetic surgery. During this time, she completed two additional years of research. She has presented her work at regional and national meetings, received awards, and published on these topics. She was recognized for her dedication to patients and work ethic with both Intern of the Year and S. Dawson Theogaraj Scholarship Awards.

Prior to joining Richmond Plastic Surgeons, Dr. Aboutanos completed a fellowship in craniofacial and pediatric plastic surgery with nationally acclaimed surgeon, Dr. Louis Morales, Jr., at Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her extensive training included cleft lip and palate surgeries, skull reshaping surgery/treatment, ear reconstruction, skin lesion removal, and vascular malformation removal. Dr. Aboutanos is dedicated to the treatment of children with craniofacial abnormalities and congenital malformations. She has been on several mission trips to Guatemala.

Outside of plastic surgery, Dr. Aboutanos speaks four languages and enjoys running. She describes herself as an artist and paints with watercolor. She lives with her husband and two children in Richmond.
