Left side breast cancer. This patient was born with an abnormal shape of her chest wall, called pectus excavatum. Therefore, she had a sunken-in breastbone and always had very small breasts. She wanted to be larger. Dr. Hubert first placed temporary tissue expanders on top of the muscle during her mastectomy surgery. After filling these in the office to stretch and grow more breast skin, Dr. Hubert exchanged them for permanent, soft silicone implants. He also performed one round of fat transfer (fat grafting) to smooth out her chest irregularities. The patient declined nipple reconstruction.
